Two American pilots serving in the US Air Force are seeking a conscientious objector status in rejection of their country’s support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza, as reported by NBC.

Senior US Airman Juan Bettancourt and active duty US airman, Larry Herbert Jr, expressed dismay over the US government’s role in the conflict, including supplying weapons and diplomatic cover to Israel, leading them to question and reject their support for such actions.

In light of the devastating events unfolding in Gaza, including the killing of innocent civilians like six-year-old Hind Rajab, the pilots have taken a stand against the atrocities and are pushing for a shift in US policy towards Israel.

Despite the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the mounting death toll, Israel’s actions continue to receive unconditional support from the US. Bettancourt and Herbert hope to influence a change in this stance by raising awareness and calling for a reevaluation of their country’s position.
