Donald Trump Courts Conservative Christian Activists and Black Voters

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is set to address conservative Christian activists today before heading to Philadelphia to rally for black voters. He will speak at an event organised by the Faith and Freedom Coalition, highlighting issues important to conservative Christian voters, particularly abortion.

While Mr. Trump has appointed conservative justices to the Supreme Court, he has stated he does not support a federal ban on abortion, leaving the issue to individual states. This stance may not sit well with evangelical voters, a key demographic for him.

In Philadelphia, Mr. Trump aims to make inroads with black voters, focusing on key campaign issues like inflation, border security, and crime. While unlikely to win the city, narrowing the margin in critical surrounding counties could benefit his overall chances in Pennsylvania, a battleground state.

Political science professor William Rosenberg believes Mr. Trump’s outreach to black voters is a strategic move to appeal to swing voters nationally.
