A two-day workshop was held in Juba to review SDG16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions on June 20, 2024.

The Vision for Generation organization organized a Consultative National Review on SDG16, attended by government agencies and civil society in preparation for the General Assembly presentation in New York. South Sudan’s Undersecretary in the Ministry of Peacebuilding, Pia Philip Michael, expressed the country’s first SDG presentation at the UN General Assembly in 2024.

The review focused on achieving lasting political resolution and building a peaceful society. Challenges in achieving peace, justice, and strong institutions were acknowledged, emphasizing the need for economic stability. The voluntary review targeted various SDG goals including zero hunger, good health, quality education, and climate change mitigation.

The review aimed to address key areas of interest in accessing equal justice and inclusive peace processes. Having evidence-based data is crucial in achieving SDG 16’s objectives.
