Cape Flats residents are choosing to live in fear rather than share information with the police regarding gang activities. Despite their silence, Western Cape police have made progress in arresting nine suspects in connection with 14 incidents of mass murders across Cape Town since January.
Colonel Andre Traut, a police spokesperson, mentioned that the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit has been diligently working to combat criminals who spread fear in various communities, with mass murders being one of the heinous crimes targeted.
