Argentine President Javier Milei created a buzz in Madrid as he received a warm welcome from right-wing conservatives at an event hosted by Spain’s far-right VOX party. Despite being ignored by the Spanish government and royals, Milei didn’t hold back in criticizing Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and his wife’s alleged corruption.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry condemned Milei’s comments as an attack on democracy and institutions, but Milei remained unapologetic and continued his verbal assault. Next on Milei’s European tour is Germany, where he will be honored by the Friedrich Hayek Society and have a work meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Originally planned as a grand affair, the events in Germany were scaled down as a courtesy to the visiting president. Milei will conclude his trip in the Czech Republic before returning to Argentina. Watch the embedded video to learn more about the economic challenges facing Argentina.
