In Tomislavgrad, a commemoration was held for the fallen members of the Czech SFOR contingent, who died 26 years ago in a helicopter accident on the slopes of Mount Tušnica in Stipanjici. The Czech delegation, led by Defense Minister Jana Černochova, also met with the defense ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) during the event.
The Czech Republic’s Minister of Defense was welcomed in Tomislavgrad by BiH’s Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez (SDP), and the local government. A ceremonial review of the honorary unit of the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH) and a bilateral meeting between the two ministries took place.
Discussions included the acquisition of a primary radar for AFBiH to control their skies effectively. The Czech soldiers were honored at the site of the accident, and the Minister of Defense thanked Tomislavgrad’s authorities for maintaining the memorial.
Head of the Tomislavgrad Municipality (HNP), Ivan Buntic, emphasized the importance of cherishing the memory of the fallen Czech soldiers. The commemoration was also attended by the BiH ambassador in Prague, Martina Mlinarevic, and members of the Czech embassy in Sarajevo.
