MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – Cuba has decided to join South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel’s alleged genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Cuban Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

“In accordance with a firm and permanent commitment to support and participate in the legitimate international efforts to stop genocide against the Palestinian people, the government of Cuba has decided to participate in the lawsuit of South Africa against Israel at the ICJ,” the ministry announced.

South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel on December 29, 2023, over alleged genocide in Gaza, leading to the ICJ ordering provisional measures. Amid ongoing violence, Cuba’s decision to join the case demonstrates its dedication to international justice and promoting peace in the region.
