Cuba Joins South Africa in Case Against Israel at International Court of Justice
Cuba has announced its decision to support South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. Radio Havana Cuba reported that Cuba, as a third state under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, will present its interpretation of the convention, accusing Israel of flagrantly violating it in the Gaza Strip.
The case aims to stop the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people by Israel’s disproportionate and indiscriminate use of force in the occupied Gaza territory. Cuba highlighted Israel’s failure to adhere to its obligations as an occupying power under the Geneva Convention, with the support of the United States.
Calling for justice and adherence to international law, Cuba emphasized that acts of genocide, apartheid, forced displacement, and collective punishments have no place in today’s world. The International Court of Justice has already ordered Israel to end its operation in Rafah, where many Palestinians sought refuge.
Despite international condemnation, Israel continues its brutal offensive in Gaza, resulting in a high number of casualties and widespread destruction. The situation in Gaza remains dire due to a blockade on essential resources.
