An investigation into a ransomware attack on London hospitals by the Russian group Qilin is ongoing, with concerns rising over a reported data dump of patient records. The attack, which occurred on June 3, has led to the cancellation of hundreds of operations and appointments at NHS provider Synnovis.

The attack impacted hospitals and clinics in southeast London, including King’s College and Guy’s and St Thomas’. Patient data, including names and medical information, has reportedly been published online by Qilin. The National Crime Agency and National Cyber Security Centre are working to verify the data, a process that could take weeks.

Efforts are underway to support affected patients, including the establishment of a website and helpline for re-testing. Ransomware attacks, like the one on London hospitals, are a major concern in the cybersecurity landscape. Qilin, also known as Agenda, operates through dark web forums and has been linked to numerous cybercrimes.
