The National Cabinet has directed the governors of Lakes and Unity states to address recent incidents of cattle-related conflicts involving armed bandits crossing their borders. This decision follows Vice President Taban Deng’s concern over the killing of six individuals, including three SSPDF soldiers, in pursuit of raiders allegedly from southern Unity on June 19.

Deputy Information Minister Jacob Korok stated that reports of youth mobilization in Lakes State for revenge attacks were brought to the cabinet’s attention. The council advised Governor Rin Tueny and Governor Riek Bim to seek peaceful solutions and prevent further escalation.

Lakes Information Minister confirmed the recovery of stolen goats and urged Unity State government to apprehend the armed youth responsible. Unity State Minister of Information is yet to respond to the allegations.
