The Oyo State Government has received a N3.5 billion grant from the World Bank to renovate 105 public primary schools in the state. Governor Seyi Makinde announced the grant, emphasizing the importance of quality renovation work in the selected schools.

The renovation project, scheduled to commence simultaneously in schools across the state, aims to provide better learning environments for pupils. The Special Adviser on Education Intervention, Mr Suraj Tiamiyu, disclosed that the renovation would include essential facilities like toilets and boreholes.

The World Bank project, part of the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) initiative, aims to improve access to education for out-of-school children and enhance literacy in beneficiary states. Oyo State, alongside Adamawa and Katsina, is one of the three states benefiting from this educational grant.

With the goal of strengthening accountability in basic education, the grant will help enhance the quality of education in the state. The state government is committed to ensuring that the renovation works are completed efficiently and to standard within a six-week timeframe.
