North Korea and Russia sign strategic partnership after summit: KCNA

Leaders of North Korea and Russia signed a Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership after a summit in Pyongyang, as reported by state media. The treaty marked the end of Russian President Putin’s state visit, which included a summit meeting, private talks with Kim Jong Un, and various other events. The DPRK leader described the treaty as putting the countries in an alliance, while Putin called it a breakthrough document.

The treaty includes a clause for mutual support in case of invasion, with the possibility of military technical cooperation. The leaders discussed building a comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperating on regional and global peace issues. Agreements were also signed for a motorcar bridge construction and cooperation in public health and science.

Putin was honored with the Order of Kim Il Sung and a banquet before departing the DPRK capital. The visit was seen as strategically significant for developing good-neighborly relations between the two countries. The leaders bid farewell at Pyongyang International Airport as Putin left after the successful visit.
