NBU Bans Use of Credit Funds for Gambling

The National Bank of Ukraine will implement a ban on using credit funds for gambling activities, effective from 22 June 2024. This decision aims to protect consumer rights, enhance the stability of the financial system, and address the negative impact of online gambling.

The NBU press service stated, “The National Bank of Ukraine introduces a ban on customer payments for participation in gambling using credit funds starting from 22 June 2024.” This move is part of Resolution No. 72, which amends previous regulations to restrict the use of credit funds for gambling.

In addition, the government has already limited online gambling advertising to curb the negative effects of excessive gambling. The NBU believes that these measures will promote responsible consumer lending practices while safeguarding financial stability.

By taking proactive steps to regulate the use of credit funds for gambling, the National Bank of Ukraine is demonstrating its commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring the sustainability of the financial system.
