An opinion poll in Israel reveals surprising results
A recent opinion poll in Israel indicates that Benny Gantz, leader of the National Unity Party, is favored over Benjamin Netanyahu for the position of prime minister. The poll conducted by Maariv shows that 42 percent of respondents prefer Gantz, while only 35 percent support Netanyahu.
The survey also predicts significant changes in the Knesset, with Gantz’s party securing 23 seats, compared to Likud’s 22 seats. Yesh Atid party and Yisrael Beiteinu also show increased support.
Gantz resigns from emergency unity government
Israeli War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz recently resigned from Netanyahu’s government, calling for early elections to prevent the nation from tearing apart. His decision comes after the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the government’s failure to develop a post-war plan.
Ongoing crisis in Gaza
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with thousands of Palestinians killed and wounded in the conflict. International organizations report a humanitarian catastrophe and a mass exodus of people fleeing the violence.
