ZANGILAN, Azerbaijan, June 21. COP29 presents a unique opportunity for global cooperation in the fight against climate change. Azerbaijan is taking significant strides in this direction with large-scale tree planting and greening initiatives, as highlighted by Faig Mutallimov, Head of the Environmental Policy Division at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

At the 29th high-level meeting in Zangilan themed “Pathway to COP29: Sustainable and Resilient Future,” Mutallimov shared Azerbaijan’s commitment to restoring 270,000 hectares of forest land by planting millions of saplings. With plans to increase tree planting to 5 million in 2024, Azerbaijan is setting a strong example for environmental conservation.

The upcoming COP29 in Baku symbolizes the government’s dedication to environmental protection.
