Ukraine’s Ambassador to Singapore, Kateryna Zelenko, expressed willingness to participate in a Beijing-led peace conference with Russia if it aligns with international principles.
In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Zelenko emphasized Ukraine’s desire for friendly relations with China, despite China’s absence at Ukraine’s recent global peace summit. China proposed an alternative peace process involving Brazil and is advocating for a summit recognized by both Kyiv and Moscow.
Despite challenges in engaging the Global South, the summit was deemed a diplomatic success by Zelenko. The event brought together representatives from 100 delegations worldwide, signaling global condemnation of Russia’s violations of international law.
While China has been a key supplier of goods to the Russian defense industry, Ukraine remains committed to involving China in peace efforts. This outreach aims to broaden the coalition for peace and stability in the region.
