The Gupta family seeks justice for Nikhil Gupta accused of plotting to kill Sikh separatist in the US
The family of Nikhil Gupta, an Indian man accused of plotting with an Indian official to kill Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the United States is seeking New Delhi’s help to “get justice”. Gupta, extradited to the US this month, pleaded not guilty to murder-for-hire conspiracy charges.
India has designated Pannun a “terrorist” but denies involvement in the plot, causing diplomatic tensions. The family expressed concern over lack of communication and support, believing Gupta deserves rights as an Indian citizen. Despite the allegations, they maintain Gupta, 52, is a victim and will receive justice.
While India’s foreign ministry remains silent on the matter, investigations are ongoing regarding Indian government officials’ alleged involvement in other similar cases. Canada is also investigating connections to the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
