Mayibuye Mandela upset over protest ban at Ramaphosa inauguration

Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mayibuye Mandela expressed disappointment after his planned protest against the government of national unity (GNU) at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration was thwarted. Mandela, who opposes the inclusion of the DA in the GNU, had intended to protest outside the Union Buildings during the event, but police intervened before he could reach the venue. He had organized a march from Church Square to the Union Buildings, holding placards denouncing the DA-ANC alliance. However, police redirected them to the Pretoria museum, preventing them from carrying out their demonstration.

Despite the setback, Mandela remains determined to reschedule the protest. He lamented the violation of their rights and criticized the lack of freedom to express their dissent. Additionally, he highlighted attempts by some ANC members to disrupt their picket. While the original march was called off, Mandela affirmed his commitment to continue advocating against the GNU alliance in the future.
