Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has urged the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission to consider increasing allocation to the state in recognition of its outstanding performance in social and economic indicators at both national and sub-regional levels. This appeal was made during a meeting with a delegation from the commission led by the Federal Commissioner representing Adamawa State, Salamatu Mohammed.
The governor highlighted the state’s consistent top performance in various indices and suggested using these indicators as a basis for allocation to sub-national levels. He emphasized the importance of the relationship between Gombe State and the commission for the state’s development.
The commission’s visit aims to ensure fair disbursement of funds to states and local government areas, addressing concerns of underpayment. They will review Gombe State’s disbursements from 1999 to 2021 to assess if it has received its rightful share.
Yahaya previously advocated for an increase in state revenue allocations during a sensitization event on revenue allocation formula, stressing the need for a fair distribution to support states’ responsibilities effectively.
