Senator Faisal Vawda Opposes New Taxes in Budget 2024-25

In a recent meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance, Senator Faisal Vawda expressed his opposition to the imposition of new taxes in the upcoming fiscal year budget. He highlighted that such taxes would make it difficult for the common man to afford a home in Pakistan. Additionally, Senator Vawda also spoke out against the proposal to tax hybrid and electric vehicles, stating that these taxes are not acceptable.

The Senator emphasized that the property market in Pakistan has been adversely affected by the imposition of these taxes, which were allegedly demanded by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He called for the concerned minister to provide an explanation for these decisions and urged against the implementation of any further tax proposals.

The Senate Committee on Finance has decided to call Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, to explain the rationale behind these tax proposals. It is feared that the increased taxes on imported vehicles, especially used ones, may make them more expensive for consumers in the country.
