34 dead from toxic alcohol.

A tragedy unfolded in Tamil Nadu as at least 34 people lost their lives due to consuming toxic bootleg alcohol in Kallakuruchi district. Reports indicate that the death toll could rise further as 80 people are being treated for severe illnesses. Two arrests have been made, with a broader investigation in progress.

Bootleg alcohol remains a serious issue in India, with methanol often added to increase strength, leading to grave consequences such as blindness and death. The accused in Kallakuruchi allegedly sold the concoction through a local vendor, resulting in symptoms like dizziness and vomiting.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has offered compensation to affected families while facing criticism for failing to prevent such tragedies. The opposition demands accountability, with calls for resignations over the government’s handling of illicit alcohol sales.
