The state Chief Secretary Radha Raturi approved a Rs 93-crore proposal for the Mining Digital Transformation and Surveillance System (MDTSS) installation, aiming to combat illegal mining activities and increase revenue.
The MDTSS will be implemented at 40 check gates spread across Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar, with varying numbers of gates in each district.
The surveillance system comprises bullet cameras, RFID radars, and LED floodlights, and a mining state control centre (MSCC) will be established in Dehradun, along with mini command centres in other district headquarters.
