Palestinian officials in Gaza are accusing the US and Israel of pushing the territory towards famine by enforcing policies of starvation and blocking aid deliveries. The Government Media Office in Gaza specifically blamed the Israeli regime and the US administration for endangering the lives of Gaza’s children and patients. They stated that 3,500 children are at risk of death due to malnutrition and lack of vaccination.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) reported that over 50,000 children in Gaza urgently need medical treatment for acute malnutrition, while Israel’s restrictions on humanitarian access continue to exacerbate the situation. With millions in Gaza facing food and medicine shortages, human rights groups have condemned Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war.
Since October, over 16,000 children have died during Israeli aggression in Gaza, with 98% lacking access to safe drinking water. The situation remains dire, with urgent action needed to prevent further suffering in the besieged strip.
