Seven individuals, including six men and a teenager, have had their cases transferred to the Special Criminal Court regarding the murder of Tristan Sherry, a gunman. State solicitor Ciara Vibien sought an order under the Offences Against the State Act for the trial at this court due to its expertise in handling terrorism and organized crime-related cases. The Special Criminal Court intervenes when ordinary courts are deemed insufficient to ensure justice and public order.

Four men are charged with Mr. Sherry’s murder at Browne’s Steakhouse in Dublin. Other individuals face charges related to violent disorder and possession of a submachine gun. The court granted the transfer of all cases to the Special Criminal Court, with a further hearing scheduled for 1 July.

The incident that led to these charges involved Mr. Sherry fatally injuring Jason Hennessy Senior, who, in turn, passed away eleven days later.
