Russian soldiers who killed Ukrainian POWs near Robotyne identified, per military intel

A recent report from Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR) exposes the brutal execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian soldiers near Zaporizhzhia Oblast’s Robotyne village. The disturbing video, captured in May, shows Russian troops shooting surrendering Ukrainian soldiers in the back, labeling the act as a war crime.

The soldiers responsible have been identified as part of the 70th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 42 Motorized Rifle Division. The agency named Captain Dmitry Nagornyi, Senior Lieutenant Temirlan Abutalimov, Lieutenant Zaur Bekov, and Senior Lieutenant Yusup Imagazaliev as the perpetrators, with Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Abayev as their commanding officer.

These war criminals could also be linked to the murder of other Ukrainian POWs in May 2024. The Prosecutor General’s Office in Ukraine continues its investigation and has collected data on over 128,000 victims of war crimes, including the deliberate cruelty displayed by Russian commanders towards Ukrainian servicemen.

It is important to stand up against such atrocities and support efforts to expose and hold accountable those responsible for such heinous acts.
