BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Russia accuses Paris of fueling conflict in the South Caucasus by supplying military equipment to Armenia. Spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized France for prioritizing its own interests over regional stability.
Zakharova noted that France’s actions are driven by personal and NATO-related motives, rather than genuine concern for Armenia. The recent agreement between French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu and Armenian Minister Suren Papikyan to sell Caesar artillery systems exemplifies this.
With 109 units of advanced self-propelled artillery, the deal highlights France’s role in exacerbating tensions in the region. Nexter, the French manufacturer of Caesar systems, stands to benefit from the agreement.
