The Kogi State House of Assembly has approved the recruitment of 1050 hunters to boost the state’s security efforts. The approval was granted during a plenary session in Lokoja, the state capital. A letter from the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs requested the recruitment of 50 hunters for each of the 21 Local Government Areas.
Speaker Aliyu Umar Yusuf highlighted the need for more manpower to address security challenges in the state. The legislators unanimously approved the recruitment, with the Caretaker Chairmen of the Local Government responsible for the hunters’ salaries.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the security of lives and property in the state. The move is seen as a proactive measure to enhance security and protect the citizens of Kogi State.
