Irish PM works to boost EU support for Palestine

The new Irish Prime Minister, Harris, recently discussed the war in Gaza with US President Joe Biden, emphasizing the importance of an immediate ceasefire in the conflict. Biden expressed the need for a two-state solution between Israel and Palestinians to resolve the crisis. Harris also condemned the Zionist regime’s use of Palestine’s recognition by Ireland, Norway, and Spain as a pretext for expanding settlements in the West Bank.

He highlighted Ireland’s efforts to increase support for Palestine within the European Union and expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Several European countries, including Sweden, Cyprus, and Bulgaria, have already recognized Palestine, with the UK and Australia considering it as well.

The EU’s relationship with Israel has strained due to the Gaza war and Israel’s defiance of calls for ceasefire and aid delivery. International support for Palestine is growing, with more countries recognizing its statehood. Harris’s stance reflects Ireland’s commitment to addressing the crisis and advocating for Palestinian rights.
