The Polish government has decided to halt the construction of a nuclear power plant in Pątnów, Wielkopolska, reportedly informing investment partners about the suspension of the project. The collaboration between PGE, ZE PAK, and KHNP aimed to build a 2.8 GW capacity plant using Korean reactors, with a scheduled completion by 2035. Trigon brokerage highlighted the issue to be addressed by the parliamentary committee on energy, climate, and state assets on June 27.

Despite President Andrzej Duda’s commitment to push for the project’s realization, some politicians, including PiS MP Zbigniew Hoffmann, have criticized the move, attributing it to the opposition party. Hoffmann expressed disappointment on social media, blaming previous political leadership for jeopardizing crucial investments in the region and the country’s energy security. The fate of the nuclear power plant now remains uncertain, sparking debates and concerns among stakeholders and the public.
