Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has submitted the names of council Caretakers Committees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation. This comes just 24 hours after his directive for Heads of Local Government Administration to take over as council chairmen’s tenure expired.
The list includes a Caretaker Committees Chairman and seven members for each Local Government Area, totaling 23 in the state. The State House of Assembly, under Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, has invited nominees for the screening and confirmation process as per the Rivers State Local Government Law.
The nominees will undergo scrutiny before being confirmed for their roles in the Caretaker Committees. The screening is scheduled for June 19, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. at the Rivers State House of Assembly Auditorium.
Those nominated are required to bring 12 sets of their Curriculum Vitae and original as well as photocopies of their credentials for the screening exercise. This move marks a crucial step in the governance structure of Rivers State.
