BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry responded to Armenia’s claim of having the sovereign right to militarize by highlighting the illegal and dangerous nature of such actions. The spokesperson emphasized Armenia’s history of violating international law, attacking Azerbaijan, and maintaining territorial claims against its neighbors.
The commentary pointed out Armenia’s hypocrisy in referring to borders and territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration while disregarding these principles for the past 30 years. It criticized Armenia for presenting Azerbaijani military positions as Armenian territory and accused France of fueling tensions by supplying offensive weaponry.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that Armenia must abandon its territorial claims against Azerbaijan for a lasting peace treaty to be signed. It called out Armenia’s insidious policy of creating tension in the region and hindering peace efforts.
Instead of provocation and manipulation, Armenia was urged to adhere to international obligations and contribute to the peace process. Azerbaijan’s sincerity in seeking peace was reaffirmed amidst Armenia’s questionable motives.
