Yobe State Police Arrest Terrorist Gang Leader

The Yobe State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending the notorious gang leader, Haruna Mohammed, who has been wreaking havoc in the state and nearby areas. The 40-year-old resident of Lantewa Village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, was involved in extorting money and valuables from victims through intimidating phone calls.

As per police spokesperson Dungus Abdulkarim, Mohammed was captured by the State Intelligent Department on June 16 in Nangillam village. The suspect admitted to demanding N3m from a victim in Siminti Village, Lantewa, under threat of harm to him and his family. Mohammed, identified as the gang leader, has also revealed information about other syndicate members who are currently under police surveillance.

This success reflects the commitment of the police force in combating criminal activities in Yobe. Communities are urged to report security breaches promptly to ensure a safer environment. The arrest of Haruna Mohammed marks a significant milestone in the battle against terrorism in the region.
