Ryan and Greens: Govt ‘failures’

The Green Party faces criticism from Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy as Eamon Ryan announces his resignation. Carthy describes Ryan as a pleasant person but deems the Green Party as failures in government, pointing to their shortcomings in various areas. Despite setting ambitious climate targets, the party has failed to deliver, shifting blame onto others for their failures. In contrast, Green Party Minister Malcolm Noonan praises Ryan as a visionary and acknowledges his role in rebuilding the party. Other political leaders, including Labour Party’s Ivana Bacik and Social Democrats’ Holly Cairns, recognize Ryan’s contributions to public service and environmentalism. Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae, while differing in policies, wishes Ryan well in his retirement. As Ryan steps down, he cites parenting commitments and the need to care for his son with special needs. He leaves behind a legacy of transformative leadership, notably in environmental legislation and European engagement. The Green Party will now search for a new leader while Ryan continues in his ministerial role.\
