Murder charge filed 20 years after body discovered in river
A man has been charged with murder, 20 years after a father’s body was found weighed down with rocks in a Western Sydney river.

Police allege Jason Palmer, 34, was murdered by a 52-year-old man who had been in a relationship with his wife.

The motive was to continue the relationship with that person, according to Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Daniel Doherty.

Police allege dad Jason Palmer, 34, was originally from the UK and was murdered by the accused.

The accused was very possessive and obsessed with his wife, leading to a violent crime, where Mr. Palmer was stabbed numerous times.

Palmer’s body was found in a river three weeks after he was reported missing, and the case was reopened for investigation.

Jason Palmer’s body was found weighed down with rocks in the Nepean River at Menangle.

The accused was arrested during a vehicle stop in Ingleburn and charged with murder.

Palmer’s sister was relieved at the charge, and it is believed that more than one person was involved in the murder.

There is no suggestion that Palmer’s wife was involved in the murder.

The arrested man was refused bail and will appear in court on August 14.
