Health Minister Mark Holland accuses Conservatives of sabotaging government’s dental care program
Health Minister Mark Holland blames the Conservatives for trying to undermine the government’s dental care program. The Liberals recently introduced dental care services for seniors under a new federal program. Holland alleges that the Conservatives are contacting dental associations to disrupt the program, which they deny. More than 40% of dental health care providers have joined the program, but concerns have arisen about patients having to pay for services not fully covered.
Holland has worked to address issues raised by dental associations but feels they are actively seeking problems. The Canadian Dental Association states they have not instructed professionals to oppose the program. The Opposition blames the Liberals for dentists’ reactions. The association hopes to collaborate with all parties to improve the program for patients.
Over two million seniors have enrolled in the program, with plans to expand eligibility to children and disabled individuals. Despite challenges, the government remains committed to enhancing the program’s effectiveness to benefit Canadians.
