Kosovo and Israel Abolish Visas: Agreement Signed.

Kosovo and Israel Abolish Visas: Agreement Signed.

Kosovo officials have made a significant move by signing an agreement with Israeli officials to abolish the visa regime for citizens of Kosovo. The agreement, signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, Donika Gervala, and the Minister of the Interior of Israel, Moshe Arbel, marks a milestone in the strong relations between the two countries.

This development will not only facilitate the visit of Kosovo citizens to Israel but also foster the creation of cultural and professional ties between the two nations. Minister Gervala emphasized that this agreement will open up new opportunities for promoting Kosovo, enhancing economic cooperation, educational development, and implementing joint projects and initiatives between Kosovo and Israel.

The decision on the free movement of Kosovo citizens to Israel will be implemented on September 19, 2024, following Israel’s approval of the agreement on January 29, 2024. This agreement comes after Kosovo and Serbia signed the Washington Agreement in 2020, with Israel being the last country to recognize Kosovo’s independence.

With Kosovo opening its embassy in Jerusalem in July 2021, this agreement signifies a step towards closer ties between Kosovo and Israel.
