The incident occurred during a clash between members of the Jos City Renewal Committee and the hoodlums, causing panic in the community. Usman Ibrahim, a resident, confirmed the chaos, condemning the actions of the perpetrators.

The Plateau State Police Command deployed officers to investigate the incident, ensuring calm was restored. Governor Caleb Mutfwang had previously signed an Executive Order to regulate construction and traffic, aiming to enhance urban planning in the state.
