Himanta urges Mamata to transfer student death case to CBI

Assam CM Urges WB CM for CBI Probe into IIT Student’s Death

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has written to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, pushing for the transfer of the case concerning the death of IIT-Kharagpur student Faizan Ahmed to the CBI. Following the revelation of a gunshot and stab wound in the latest forensic report, Sarma emphasized the importance of holding the culprits accountable.

Expressing the need for justice and closure for Ahmed’s family, Sarma urged Banerjee to ensure a transparent and unbiased investigation by the CBI. Ahmed was found dead in his hostel room in October 2022, with authorities initially ruling it as a suicide. However, his parents suspected foul play due to observed injury marks on his body.

His mother approached the Calcutta High Court, leading to the exhumation of Ahmed’s remains for a second post-mortem examination. The court aimed to uncover the truth behind his untimely demise, shedding light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding the incident.

As the case unfolds, there is a growing demand for a thorough probe to bring justice to the deceased student and his grieving family.
