Female charged in learner permit fraud probe

A 42-year-old woman, Alina Glont, from Dublin, has been charged with learner driver permit fraud. The charges include conspiracy to unlawfully use a computer to obtain driver theory test pass certificates for third parties and carrying out deceptions by taking tests in the names of others to induce the issue of certificates for financial gain.

Detective Garda Barry Cormack of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau provided evidence of arrest and cautioned Ms. Glont, who made no reply to the charges. The case has been referred for trial on indictment to a higher court for sentencing.

Due to the seriousness of the charges, bail application must be made in the High Court. Legal aid application has not been made yet. Ms. Glont was remanded in custody to appear via video link for her next hearing on Friday.
