The US might reinstate visas for Chinese citizens, as China has become one of the top nationalities of migrants reaching the country since 2023. Chinese nationals often start their journey in Ecuador and trek through Central America to reach the US.
The Washington-based Niskanen Center reported that Chinese nationals had a high entry-exit disparity in Ecuador. China’s foreign ministry expressed opposition to human smuggling and highlighted efforts to combat illegal immigration.
There has been a surge in Chinese immigrants entering the US, with border arrests increasing significantly. While the monthly tally fluctuates, concerns have been raised about the intentions of these migrants. However, they assert that they seek better opportunities and freedom in the US.
