According to the latest report by the Swiss Business School’s Institute for Management Development (IMD), Brazil slid to the 62nd spot in global competitiveness, surpassing countries like Argentina and Venezuela but lagging behind South Africa and Mongolia.
The ranking, based on statistical data and business opinion polls, highlights Brazil’s challenges in areas like the cost of capital and labor legislation. Despite positive indicators in employment and GDP growth, concerns remain about education and access to credit for companies.
Professor Hugo Tadeu, overseeing the survey in Brazil, emphasized the importance of a strategic agenda to address these challenges and improve the country’s position on the global stage.
While Singapore leads the ranking with effective public policies and infrastructure, Brazil faces a call for structural reforms to enhance its competitiveness and foster innovation.
