Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is reportedly scheduling a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari following criticism over the lack of PPP input in the annual budget 2024-25 preparations. Sources reveal that PM Shehbaz had a telephonic conversation with the former foreign minister on Eidul Adha and extended an invitation for a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House post-Eid, which was accepted by Bilawal.
The anticipated meeting aims to address unresolved issues between the two parties, as efforts to reconcile with the PPP amid budget disagreements have intensified. The PPP, led by Bilawal Bhutto, previously expressed reservations on the development allocations and demanded inclusion in the budget planning process.
The PPP’s decision to protest until their concerns are addressed was evident with Bilawal and Aseefa Bhutto’s absence from the budget session. Despite initial hesitation, the PPP lawmakers attended the session to meet the required quorum.
