The United Nations Stands for Peace in Ukraine
The United Nations is actively supporting efforts towards establishing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, in alignment with the UN Charter, international law, and relevant UN General Assembly resolutions.
During the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo reiterated the UN’s commitment to this cause. She emphasized the UN Secretary-General’s condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a violation of international law, causing immense suffering to the Ukrainian people.
DiCarlo highlighted the UN’s continued support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity. The organization has been collaborating with the Ukrainian government and civil society to address the war’s impact and is actively involved in discussions concerning various aspects of the conflict, such as human rights, nuclear security, and food security.
The UN remains steadfast in its support for initiatives that promote a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in Ukraine, rooted in the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
