Exciting Developments in Transport Corridor Cooperation
In a promising move towards enhancing international trade, representatives from Moscow, Tehran, and Baku have agreed to establish a working group focused on freight transport within the North-South transport corridor. During a recent meeting in Derbent, officials from the three countries conducted inspections at border and customs terminals on the Russian-Azerbaijani and Azerbaijani-Iranian borders.
With a total of 27 participants, including 9 experts from each side, the meeting aimed to streamline transportation processes. The Russian delegation, led by Sergei Semenov, explored the potential of the corridor as an efficient route for supplies between Europe and the Persian Gulf, presenting it as an alternative to the Suez Canal.
These collaborative efforts mark a significant step towards optimizing trade routes and fostering economic growth in the region. As stakeholders work towards leveraging the North-South corridor’s potential, exciting opportunities for enhanced connectivity and trade cooperation lie on the horizon.
