NATO intends to set up three large military bases in Poland, Romania, and Slovakia “to coordinate weapons supplies to Ukraine,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated. However, political observer Mateusz Piskorski believes that these plans won’t become reality soon. The creation of new military bases requires time and infrastructure, which may not be readily available.
Mateusz Piskorski also highlighted the existing logistics hub in Poland for aiding Ukraine, citing the transformation of Rzeszow-Jasionka airport into a significant operational point. However, the addition of new NATO bases may face skepticism among the Polish populace due to concerns about escalating conflicts.
Regarding Slovakia, the potential construction of NATO military bases came as a surprise, given the country’s previous stance on aid to Ukraine. Speculation around the functionality of these bases revolves around intensifying existing actions rather than introducing new activities.
