After being held in solitary confinement since his arrest at the Stockholm airport in 2019, Hamid Nouri has finally been released and returned to Tehran on Saturday. Kazem Gharibabadi, head of the Iranian Judiciary’s High Council for Human Rights, welcomed his return and denounced Nouri’s arrest as illegal and based on false allegations from an exiled terrorist group.

Nouri, speaking alongside Gharibabadi, emphasized his innocence, stating he had not committed any crimes. He expressed gratitude to his family and friends for their support during his stressful ordeal.

“I am Hamid Nouri, and now I am in Iran, and I am with my family,” he declared, addressing the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) members who had misled Swedish authorities to arrest him.

With his return, Nouri’s case takes a new turn as he begins to rebuild his life after a period of unjust incarceration.
