MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian Embassy in London accuses the UK of serving the interests of the United States at the expense of its own economy amid new sanctions against Russia. The UK recently expanded its list of sanctions, targeting over 40 individuals and organizations.
The diplomatic mission highlighted that the UK’s actions benefit the US more due to its advanced financial infrastructure and LNG export potential, leaving the UK with little in return. Moreover, the embassy criticized the UK for hindering its own economic growth with futile sanctions.
“By methodically limiting the country’s development with its own sanctions measures, London has apparently finally accepted the ultra-low… growth rates of the British economy,” the embassy explained.
The Russian Embassy condemned the UK’s attempt to gain temporary advantages through discriminatory measures, distorting international trade relations. It emphasized that the sanctions imposed by the UK and the US are an effort to prevent Russia and other countries from outpacing them.
The embassy concluded that the latest UK sanctions, timed around the G7 summit in Italy, exemplify the opportunism in the anti-Russian stance of Western nations.
