Panel finds procedural lapses in Juvenile Justice Board-led minor’s bail probe

Procedural Lapses Found in Pune Porsche Crash Case Probe

A committee investigating the conduct of two Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) members in the Pune Porsche crash case has discovered “procedural lapses,” “misconduct,” and “non-compliance of norms,” according to a senior official. The incident, which resulted in the death of two IT professionals, caused a national outcry when the minor accused was granted bail on lenient terms, including writing an essay on road safety.

The committee’s report, submitted to the Women and Child Development department commissioner, has led to show cause notices being issued to the two JJB members. The investigation found significant errors in the bail order issued by one member of the JJB, with misconduct and non-compliance of norms identified.

As part of the investigation, statements were taken from the two JJB members appointed by the state government. The committee’s mandate was to examine the conduct of these members specifically, according to officials.

The JJB, consisting of members appointed by the WCD department and the judiciary, is now under scrutiny as authorities seek answers and accountability from those involved.
