Negotiations stalled over security guarantees, with Russia demanding veto power over international intervention in Ukraine.
Despite Ukrainian counteroffensives and the uncovering of civilian massacres in Bucha, talks continued. However, the Ukrainian team expressed concerns over Russia’s demands for unilateral disarmament and veto power. The Wall Street Journal had previously reported on the terms of the peace treaty in March.
President Zelensky attended a global peace summit in Switzerland, aiming to draft a joint peace plan for Ukraine. The summit excluded Russia, reflecting ongoing tensions. The summit aimed to gather support from over 100 countries and address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
