Israel strikes Gaza amid rising tensions on Lebanon border

Israeli airstrikes hit Gaza on Friday amidst stalled truce talks with Hamas militants and escalating tensions on the northern border with Lebanon. Witnesses reported strikes in various parts of Gaza, with casualties reported, including an 11-year-old boy. The conflict also involved retaliatory attacks from both sides, resulting in civilian casualties and escalating fears of a broader Middle East conflict.

International leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, have been working to ease tensions and broker a ceasefire. However, challenges remain, including opposition from Israeli government allies to certain proposals.

The aftermath of the Gaza war has left thousands dead, with concerns over malnutrition and shortages in the besieged territory. The conflict has also spilled over to other regions, including a recent escalation off Yemen with Huthi rebels targeting ships in solidarity with Palestinians.

As the world prepares for Eid al-Adha, the situation in Gaza remains grim, with little to celebrate amidst the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis.
